- you're not special
you're not special
and why it's a good thing
Hey bro,
I want to give you a little hack to succeed in life.
You aren't special.
Now before you call me a dick, let me explain why this is important. This is going to be a banger so make sure you read till the end.
I am going to use a personal example. I am a singer. And I love the music I make.
The problem is, that we are biased to think we are awesome.
When I find a beat, write lyrics, record them, edit them, and then write a script for a video and then record the video, and then post it, I have invested a lot into it.
There is something called "The IKEA effect"
It basically means that if you help build something, you value it more.
So why does "You're not special" help? Because in your mind, everything you make is awesome. But that doesn't mean it's awesome to a total stranger that doesn't know you.
You need to learn to see things from other people's point of view.
Someone who doesn't care.
When you do this, you create things that are appealing to SOMEONE ELSE. Not just you.
It's called a unique value proposition. What makes your product different or more interesting than any other options that exist?
It works in dating as well.
Do you honestly think the girl you're talking to isn't talking to any other guys?
She is. And you ARE competing for your spot at that table.
This doesn't mean you have to be the absolute best (Which helps. But it's difficult) you just need to make sure that she has a solid REASON to choose you.
And that reason has to be solid to HER. Not to you.
Go get 'em!
