you're leaving money on the table

learn the art of asking

Hey bro,

I've been thinking,

Why do people struggle so hard with money?

I was walking to this gym this morning, and it felt like every second car was a BMW, Mercedes, or Range Rover. So the money's out there. So... why does it feel off-limits?

I think I figured this out, and it's simpler than you think. (not easy, but simple.)

I grew up in a middle-class family. Not rich, not poor. (Super cliche I know)

But the one thing we had was shame.

Shame around sex, shame around money, just a limiting ass place to be a kid.

My parents always said salesmen were "scammers" which gave me a bad taste in my mouth since day one. (it's funny because now I LOVE to sell.)

But in reality, what is sales?

It's literally just asking.

Here's a better way to explain it: You know that homeless guy on the streets begging for change?

HE'S making money. How?

He's just ASKING enough people.

I think the main issue's that you're afraid to ask for stuff. ESPECIALLY money, because it sounds greedy and rude.

But most people are willing to give, they just need a good reason. (Lost my job, 2 kids, down on my luck, etc.)

Now I am NOT saying to go out and beg for money. I am simply trying to open your eyes.

If you don't ask, you don't get.

It's hard because at the beginning you don't feel like you're WORTH money.

So reflect this week.

Are you afraid to ask?

If so, what are some baby steps you can take to build up courage?

Because once you can ask, and people have a reason to give, you're officially a rock star salesman.

And that guy's never out of a job.

God bless.
