are you sabotaging your own success?
(more common than you think)
I eat oats and drink black coffee every day.
Like actually,
Every day.
I didn’t use to be this way.
You could have caught me in the Mcdonald’s drive-thru ordering a big mac, large fries, and an Oreo and Kit-Kat Mcflurry.
Not that I don’t do this now,
But I try to make sure that I am eating at least 1 meal a day that is home-prepared.
My mom is a terrible cook. (sorry Mom.)
For real.
I didn’t know I liked steak until I was 22.
Every time my mom pried me off the Xbox controller to eat supper, and said “We’re having steak!”
Great.
A leather shoe to chew on until you give up and eat peas with no salt or pepper.
Dear god…
I am giving myself PTSD.
But as of recently,
I am kind of glad that I had this experience with food.
I think these days people see food like they see porn.
A way to make yourself feel good and hit as many pleasure centers as possible.
If you look back,
They say our hunter-gatherer ancestors were in absolutely PHENOMENAL shape.
And they ate berries, meat, and plants.
A lot of people are really gung-ho on the meat-only diet which is fine.
But our ancestors were really eating a plant-dominated diet.
Now I am not here to convince you to go vegan. (after all my brother-in-law’s BBQ skills taught me that steak can be good as sex.)
I am here to say that you should view food as FUEL.
The things that taste good are usually manufactured to taste good.
That means they made them taste so good they became addictive.
Not only does sticking to a decent diet build discipline, (because you have to deny yourself Burger King.)
But it also teaches you that you are what you eat.
You’ll have higher energy, increased mood, and overall a better quality of life.
You don’t have to eat oats and coffee every day,
But it's a start.
