- people are lying to you
people are lying to you
and here's why
Hey friend,
I am taking a walk in Costa Rica right now. Lots of palm trees, sunshine, and good vibes.
I like to take walks listening to focus music so I can visualize my goals more clearly.
And then it just hit me:
People never tell the truth.
Did that sound cynical? Well hear me out:
I am doing market research right now to build a product that is truly worthy of this audience.
And the main hurdle is realizing that people just don’t care about what I want.
They only care about what THEY want.
Poor me right? Well bear with me here.
It’s rude to tell you your product sucks and people don’t want to hurt your feelings. So they tell you it’s “awesome.”
But in reality, people vote with their wallets.
“Awesome” doesn’t keep the lights on. Does it?
The REAL reason market research exists is because people don’t tell you what they really spend their money on.
People will SAY they buy organic groceries, but the Mcdonald’s line is longer than ever.
People don’t always tell the truth. And this is a good thing.
Because sometimes you just aren’t READY to serve your audience at the highest level.
And you’ll notice because of the tumbleweeds in your bank account.
The truth hurts. So people never tell it.
Study people.
Find the truth.
And you’ll learn to love them, lies and all.

P.S. If you want to discover the hidden behaviors of yourself and others, I learned it from this book here. Also, if you’re into marketing, this one is amazing as well.
