how to make others do what you want

(without them even knowing)

Hey bro,

Do you think we are really in control?

I mean like ACTUALLY.

There is a lot of rah-rah out there saying "You are the captain of your fate" and stuff like that.

But I was watching a ted talk the other day by an executive from Ogilvy (One of the biggest advertising companies in the world. So he's the real deal.)

I can't remember the exact quote, but he was talking about emotional triggers.

If you know anything about sales and marketing,

You know you should ALWAYS sell someone's emotions first. And they'll rationalize it afterward.

After all, most people do things first and come up with the reason why after.

The guy's name is Rory Sutherland. I linked his book at the end of the email.

But he said something like: "We cannot directly change peoples' behavior. We can only do it indirectly."

Cool bro... What does that mean? LOL

He said "Influencing people is like an automatic car. The gears are still working, you just aren't doing it manually."

"You have to learn where the gears shift, then control the accelerator to make it switch when you want." He said.

"Then, you can control the car's behavior."

Nice.

Most people think you can FORCE people to do things.

Sure, you can stick a gun in his ribs and work him like a puppet,

But does he REALLY want to do it?

I don't think so.

"You can buy a man's back but you can't buy his heart."

To TRULY influence someone it has to feel like their idea. And this is where "indirect influence" comes in.

People don't always tell the truth, so you have to read between the lines.

And this is more a habit than anything.

When your girl says she "isn't hungry" and then eats all your french fries. You could have predicted that.

You could also start making a bunch more money.

Because if there is one thing that people love,

It's someone who can make them more money.

So go out and kill it this week!
