The fear of rejection

And how to deal with it.

Hey bro,

Been a while.

I hope you're doing well.

I have some groundbreaking advice that I wish I would have learned when I was 16. It would have saved me a TON of grief and heartbreak.

But first, let me give you some context.

My dad was abused. Nothing weird, but the guy was beaten, called down, and forgotten.

And obviously, this affected the way that he raised me and my sisters.

My whole life I felt like an outsider.

My dad's family loved to rodeo (riding around on livestock) and my mom's side loved anyone who went to university.

Obviously, I didn't really fit this mold.

I wanted to be a musician all of my life and the number of times my family (the people who are supposed to support you) told me "You'll never make it" was eye-watering.

This built something called a "confirmation bias"

If you didn't know, this is a psychological bias we have to seek out information that proves us right.

If you think the world hates you (I did/do) you find information that was previously neutral and had no negative connotations and you apply your negative bias to them.

In English, you change the meaning of something to make it fit.

I was rejected so much as a kid that I EXPECTED people to reject me. This prevented me from asking girls out, asking for help, or asking for literally anything.

Yesterday, that all changed.

I have experienced a LOT of acceptance in my life too.

I just couldn't see it because then I would have to admit that I was wrong about everyone hating me. And my ego wouldn't let that happen.

Do you fear rejection?

Are you scared to go after what you want?

This could be the issue. And I hope this email opened your mind to how powerful that bad boy really is.

It can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

Go get 'em!

P.S. I am taking a few coaching clients for the Fall season. I'll be working with a lucky few to increase self-esteem, build confidence, and crush limiting beliefs like the one mentioned in this email. If you're interested in changing your life respond to this email and I'll see if I can help you.
